Export & Render Problems
Every export and cloud render message explained: silent videos, stuck renders, export limits, and videos that look wrong.
Where Errors Appear
An export error appears as a card near the top of the Studio, with an X to dismiss it. When the problem is your device (the browser cannot encode, or the render died), the card also offers to render in the cloud, or a free cloud render if you have not used your trial. Pressing Record again on the same device usually gives the same error, so the cloud is the quickest way out.
This Device: Messages and Fixes
| Message | What it means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| "This mode is still in development, so it cannot be exported yet." | Modes in development can be previewed but not exported. | Pick a finished mode. |
| "You've used all N exports for this period..." | Your monthly export allowance is used up. | Wait for the date shown, move to a bigger plan, or render in the cloud if you have credits. |
| "This export size (W x H) is larger than the browser's video encoder supports." | Your browser cannot encode a video that large. | Choose a smaller resolution, or render in the cloud. |
| "No supported H.264 or VP9 encoder found in this browser..." | The browser has no usable video encoder. | Update the browser or use Chrome or Edge. Or render in the cloud. |
| "This browser is too old to export video." | The browser cannot encode video at all. | Use another device or a recent browser. Or render in the cloud. |
| "Could not create the offline compositing canvas." | The browser could not get the memory to draw the video. | Close other tabs and apps, pick a lower resolution, or restart the browser. |
| "Offline render failed" | The render stopped unexpectedly, often because the device ran out of memory. | Try 720p, a shorter clip or fewer effects. On a phone, keep the screen on. Or render in the cloud. |
| "It could not be saved automatically. Press Save to try again." | The finished video could not be handed to your device. | Press Save on the card. On a phone, make sure the tab is in front. |
Tip
- Software video encoding (very old iPhones) is limited to 720p and 30 fps and takes a few minutes. Keep the tab open and the screen awake.
Cloud: Messages and Fixes
| Message | What it means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| "Cloud rendering is not available for 3D modes." | 3D modes are rendered on your device only. | Switch Render on to This device. |
| "You already have a cloud render in progress." | One cloud render at a time per account, including ones started on another device. | Wait for it to finish. |
| "This render costs N credits; your balance is B." | Not enough credits for this length. | Buy credits, or choose a shorter clip. |
| "Your free cloud render is used..." | Your one free cloud render is spent and you have no credits. | Buy credits, pick a plan with monthly credits (Creator and up), or export on this device. |
| "Service temporarily unavailable. Retry shortly." | Our servers could not check your balance just then. Nothing was charged. | Try again in a minute. |
| "This scene was too heavy to finish in the cloud" | The scene took too long on our renderer. | Use a shorter clip, or lighter glow, spectrum or background settings. |
| "Something went wrong on the render machine" | A problem on our side. | Try again. If it keeps happening, contact support. |
Tip
- Whenever a cloud render fails, the credits it used go back to your balance automatically.
Is My Cloud Render Stuck?
A cloud render reports what it is doing. It is only stuck if it stays on one message far longer than the table suggests.
| Message | What is happening |
|---|---|
| Sending your project to the cloud | Your setup is being uploaded. A few seconds. |
| Getting a cloud machine ready | A render machine is starting. Usually 15 to 30 seconds. |
| Your video is in the queue | Waiting for a free machine. It starts on its own; you can close the tab. |
| Your cloud render is running | Frames are being drawn. The longest stage. |
| Adding the sound and finishing your video | Audio is mixed and the file is packed. This can sit still for a minute on long clips; it is not stuck. |
| Uploading your finished video | Nearly done. |
| That cloud render did not finish | It failed. Your credits were put back automatically. |
Tip
- If a render stops responding, we cancel it automatically within minutes and return your credits. Finished cloud videos are kept for 7 days.
The Exported Video Has No Sound
- 1Check the Studio preview makes sound. If it is silent, see Audio Problems first.
- 2Check the volume sliders in the Audio section are not at zero.
- 3Play the file in a different player. Some phone galleries mute videos until you tap them.
- 4If the file really is silent, update your browser and export again, or render in the cloud.
The Video Saved but Looks Wrong
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Black or blank video | The device ran out of graphics memory part-way. | Choose 720p, close other apps, or render in the cloud. |
| Choppy or glitchy | The device struggled with a long or large render. | Lower the resolution, use 30 or 60 fps, shorten the clip, plug in the laptop. |
| Blocky dark gradients | Not enough bitrate for a dark, glowing scene. | Raise Bitrate in Video > Advanced recording. |
| Watermark shows | Free plan, or the watermark switch is on. | Turn the watermark off (paid plans). |
| Counters or stats in the video | Show HUD in recording is on. | Turn it off in Video > Advanced recording. |
| 720p when you picked 1080p | Phone default, software rendering, or your plan. | Pick 1080p in Basics > Export, or export on a computer. |
| Different from the preview | The export always starts from the first frame of the run. | Restart the preview (Space twice) to see exactly what will be exported. |
The Render Paused or Never Downloaded
Keep the Studio tab open and in front until the render finishes. On a phone, the download waits until you come back to the tab, so if you switched apps, return to the Studio and the file saves. Do not lock the screen during a long render on a phone. You can cancel at any time without using an export.
Out of Exports
Each plan includes a number of exports on your device each month: 5 on the free plan, 30 on Creator, 60 on Pro, 300 on Elite and 750 on Agency. Only a finished file counts, and cloud renders use credits instead. The allowance comes back on your renewal date (on the free plan, monthly from the day you signed up). See Export Limits and Cloud Render Credits.
