Undo, Reset and Recovery
How undo and redo work, every way to reset the Studio and what each one keeps, and what to do when the preview slows to a crawl.
Undo and Redo
Every settings change can be undone with Ctrl + Z and redone with Ctrl + Y (or Ctrl + Shift + Z). A quick burst of changes counts as one step, so dragging a slider end to end is a single undo. The Studio remembers your last 100 steps while the page is open; reloading starts a fresh history, but your project itself is kept.
Technical parameters
- History: 100 steps for undo and 100 for redo.
- Changes less than 0.4 seconds apart are grouped into one step.
Restart Is Not Reset
Restart (on the play controls, or Space twice) only starts the run again from the beginning. None of your settings change. Reset puts your settings back to their defaults.
Every Way to Reset
| Where | Asks first? | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Rail > Reset | Yes | Every setting (mode, physics, visuals, audio) back to its default, and the run restarts. |
| Phone > Menu > Reset to default | Yes | The same full reset. |
| Shift + Alt + R | Yes | The same full reset. |
| Cloud > Reset to default | No | The same full reset. Undo with Ctrl + Z. |
| Cloud > Clear local saves | Yes | Deletes every local save and everything the Studio remembers in this browser, then resets. Cannot be undone. |
Tip
- A reset is not a delete button. Cloud saves, presets, local saves and your uploaded songs, sounds, MIDI and images are kept.
When the Preview Crawls
If a setting is too heavy for your machine and the preview stays at a very low frame rate, the Reset button on the rail lights up with a "Performance warning" that shows your current frame rate. You can cancel, or reset to get a light, smooth scene back.
A reset is a last resort. Often it is enough to undo your last change, lower the heaviest setting, or set the 3D quality to Low. See Performance & Optimization.
If Something Looks Wrong After Reloading
The Studio restores your last project when it opens. If a saved project looks different from what you expect, load it again from the Cloud section. If the Studio will not load at all, try another browser, check that hardware acceleration is on, and contact support at /support.
