Song Library, Built-in Tunes and Writing New Songs
Where the ready-made music comes from, how Randomize picks songs, and how to write a brand-new song on Creator and up.
The Song Library
The Song Library is the first shelf in the track picker. It is a shared set of 1,000 original songs written for BallEngine across 32 genres, each with its own mood, key and tempo, and each arranged for several instruments with a clear lead line for the ball to follow.
Every song is our own composition, so videos that use it are safe to monetize. Every plan can use it, and you can search the shelf by name or by genre. Picking a Library song downloads its notes into your project, so it never counts against your cloud storage and it plays the same for anyone who opens your save.
When you press Randomize in the Studio, the new setup picks a song from this library too, so each roll can sound different.
- 1Open Audio on the rail (or the Sound section in Basics) and tap the track picker.
- 2Tap the Song Library shelf chip, or type in the search box.
- 3Press the preview button on a row to hear about 8 seconds of the full arrangement.
- 4Tap the row to make it the active track, then press Reset and sync.
Built-in Tunes
Built-in Tunes are short note sequences that ship with the Studio. They are single lines of notes rather than full arrangements, and they loop. Their sound comes from the instrument set in Audio Effects (Voice Architecture), which defaults to Grand Piano.
Some built-in tunes are simple versions of well-known themes. BallEngine does not grant you any rights to the underlying composition of a tune written by someone else, so read the copyright article before you publish a monetized video that uses one.
Write a new song (Creator and up)
On Creator and up, the picker shows a Write a new song button. One click writes an original instrumental song, saves it to your MIDI Files shelf and makes it the active track. While it works the button reads "Writing your song...".
For more control, open the MIDI Editor and use Write a song with AI, which lets you choose a style, mood and arrangement first (see the MIDI Editor article).
On the Free plan, the button is hidden and you pick from the Song Library instead.

Technical parameters
- Daily and monthly writing limits also apply. The AI Song panel in the MIDI Editor shows how many you have left today and this month.
- When you reach your plan's library size, you see "You have composed all N tracks your plan allows." Delete songs you no longer need, or pick existing ones.
- If you write songs too quickly in a row, you are asked to wait a few seconds.
Why the same song can sound different
A song plays the same notes in the same order every time. What changes the sound of a run is:
1. The instrument. Library and AI-written songs carry their own instruments per part. Built-in Tunes and uploaded MIDI files play through the Voice Architecture instrument in Audio Effects, unless Force Universal Voice overrides everything. 2. Which notes bounce. MIDI Bounce Filtering can send only the lead, the bass, the high notes or the drums to the ball, and play the rest in the background. 3. Timing. With Perfect Beat Bouncing on, bounces land on the notes. With it off, the ball bounces freely and simply plays the next note each time. 4. Effects. Echo, reverb, filters and pitch in Audio Effects change the colour of the sound.
