Switching Plans: Upgrades and Downgrades

How moving between plans works: what applies now, what waits for your renewal date, and what you are charged.

One Subscription per Account

Your account always has exactly one subscription. Changing plans changes that subscription; it never adds a second one. A Studio plan with an automation plan is also one subscription at the combined price, with one charge and one thing to cancel.

To change plan, press "Change plan" on your account page, or open the Plans page. Before anything happens, a window shows exactly what will change and what it costs. Nothing is charged until you confirm.

Upgrades Apply Right Away

An upgrade adds something and takes nothing away: a higher Studio plan, a bigger automation plan, or moving from monthly to yearly. The window shows the new price, a credit for the unused time of your current period, and the difference charged today. When you confirm, the new plan is active immediately, and you pay its normal price from your next renewal date. Some banks ask you to approve the charge first.

Downgrades Wait for Your Renewal Date

A downgrade takes something away: a lower Studio plan, a smaller automation plan, removing automation, or moving from yearly to monthly. It is scheduled for your renewal date. Nothing is charged today, and you keep everything you have until then.

While it waits, your account page shows "Plan change scheduled" with the date. Press "Keep my current plan" to call it off.

If a Plan Cannot Be Switched Automatically

Very occasionally a subscription cannot be changed in place, usually one started long ago. You then see a message asking you to contact support. Open a ticket at /support and we will move it for you. Do not start a second checkout yourself.
